It's amazing isn't it, when you start to get an entire new mind-set and get the cult cobwebs out? We find ourselves being more tolerant of others even 'worldly' people and have made some really good friends.

anyone had any experience of a successful appeal against a disfellowship?
a friend of mine feels he has been dfd unjustifiably & is considering an appeal.
he probably has something of a case - the jc was a total shambles - but i'm very dubious that he has any likelihood of success.. my only experience of a successful appeal is when elders in a neighbouring congregation were appointed by the co & overturned a df in our congregation a few years ago.
If it's for apostasy, I've never seen anyone come back from that.
But I do know of a pregnant young single sister that was DF'd then the same thing happened to my sister and they only publically reproved her, the other sister's dad pitched a fit and got his daughter's DF'ing reduced down to public reproof also.
somehow or other we humanoids like to engage in a form of thinking which will make our life more bearable--and that involves.
sort of a postive mental attitude.
but, nothing wrong with that.

What I use to get a kick out of, back when we were in the middle of the cong. we would do some intense research from the bible & WT and bring it up at a get-together or service group as a brain-teaser and all we would get was a blank stare or a "Oh you think too deep!" or a "Where did you get that?"

Personally, I believe that Christ was enthroned when he went back to heaven in 33/34 c.e. His general Michael the Archangel cleansed the heavens and the kingdom was established at that time, not 1914. Jesus is not an angel; Heb 1:13

i have lurked now and then, just decided to join.. my older brother and i were raised by our jw mom, but our dad was a non-practicing catholic.
so we went to the hall, but were considered "weak" witnesses, since our family still celebrated xmas and birthdays, to appease my dad i suppose.
as a kid, i loved these holidays.. anyways, when my brother was 17 (i was 13), he spent a few weeks with our cousins in ky, who are all gung-ho j-dubs, and upon his return, he decided he was going to be more "theocratic".

Welcome Limbo! I know it's difficult at first, we're kind of newbies also, and we are happy that you are here with us! Just breathe. It does get easier. Take time to give your mind a chance to become clearer. Hubby & I had to re-learn everything of what we thought we knew of the bible. We understand tho how some can become so disheartened that they cannot possibly believe in God. But you will sort it all in time.
